Spring Herb Days set for April 20-22

RALEIGH – Whether you’re in the mood for a sprinkle of thyme or a dash of garlic, you’re sure to find a way to spice up your cooking at the annual Spring Herb Days.  The three-day event runs April 20-22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the State Farmers Market.  Herb plants and a variety of herbal products will be for sale, including herbal soaps, natural body care products, aromatics, herb books and crafts.

“We’re seeing an increasing demand for herbs in the natural products industry, and North Carolina herb growers see great potential in reaping the benefits of this exciting trend,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Shoppers will have plenty of selection for culinary and home medicinal uses as well as free advice on growing their own herbs.”

The East Coast Community of Herbs and Organics and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services sponsor the event. The State Farmers Market is located at 1201 Agriculture St., off Exit 297 (Lake Wheeler Road) of Interstate 40.

In addition to Herb Days events, shoppers can enjoy the vast array of locally grown fresh produce, bedding plants, shrubbery, garden supplies, cheeses, meats and wine.  Two restaurants are also located at the State Farmers Market.
